NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features text commentary of Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard on select stations for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

It's week six of the NFL season and following last week's talk about two top teams as possible championship contenders, they both lost their perfect starts.

Notable during those contests were the amount of penalties each committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the final quarter versus the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this weekend.

But it was good to see how Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to have the shortfall and then direct three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory by four points.

The Broncos boast the top defender with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank number one in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that contest.

They executed the Eagles' number regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always rushing extra pass rushers instead they might position two LBs in the 'A' gap before drop them out and send a slot defender from the outside.

Early on of the season, we said during a show that the Broncos might emerge as this season's dark horses. They ended last season well and excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has excelled significantly and new RB JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

I love that head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how the Broncos are a team that wants to prioritize the run, because one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while keeps you in favourable down and distances.

It's also benefited QB the young passer, who entered into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have powerful arms to throw anywhere, however they lack the mobility as Nix. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he's highly agile.

His strengths include his movement, the capacity to pass on the run, and finding different arm angles to deliver throws as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to throw that layered pass across the middle and past defenders.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays a lot of poise under pressure and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He aims to avoid being tackled as much as possible and is able pass under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and remains quick to decide.

If you constantly rush it consumes time and makes the defence to stay on the field extended periods, and if you've got a mobile QB the defense must defend the area vertically side to side. This proves exhausting.

Nix has bitten back with the coach during games sometimes and it seems the coach likes that fire, that he's such a competitor. I think it's fun for the coach to coach a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. The coach can truly develop him how he wants to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton owns a championship and now surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are experiencing on offence is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix aids shape him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to assist you during difficult moments and build self-belief.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to go against a top squad at its best? Because that was not championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.

Right now, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're performing better than most, which is a solid position to hold the AFC West. The key to do to continue this trajectory.

They're really good at embracing their forte, which is the ground game, and this is precisely what they should do versus the Jets in London. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win a game.

Ever since the NFL began tracking turnovers in 1933, the Jets are also the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway in five outings, this is surprising considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge at leading the division.

It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they meet since Denver {beat|def
