England’s men’s team will commence their UEFA Euro 2028 campaign at the the home of Manchester City, assuming they attain the relatively straightforward entry for a competition taking place in the bulk of Britain and the Ireland.

City’s stadium has not hosted an England men’s match since May 2016, when Turkey were overcome 2-1 in a warm-up game, but is expected to host the England side for their first match on June 10, 2028.

The English side are planned to play their last two group stage games at the national stadium, but, should they win their group, their knockout stage opener would be held at the Newcastle stadium. Finishing second would mean starting the elimination stage at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Championship Kickoff and Demonstration

The tournament was launched at an ceremony in a London landmark on Wednesday evening. Key representatives from European football’s governing body and the host football associations were confronted as they arrived the location by about 50 activists, who demanded the Israeli team to be expelled from international football because of the conflict in Gaza.

Signs were raised with slogans stating “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while activists shouted: “Kick Israel out.”

Championship Timeline

The inaugural fixture of the tournament will be held at the Cardiff’s stadium in Cardiff, on June 9, 2028, a match that will feature the Welsh team if they secure a place.

Wembley will host both semi-finals and the final, which will be staged on July 9, 2028 with a commencement at 5:00 PM.

It is hoped that an afternoon start, which will also be adopted for European club finals from the upcoming season, will cater to families and help connect with a broader range of viewers.

Participating Countries

The Ireland are scheduled to play their initial fixture at the Aviva Stadium and the Tartan Army would do the same at Hampden Park.

All four host countries’ teams will enter the qualifying tournament; two automatic spots will be reserved for any that fail to qualify for the tournament through the standard process.

Venues and Playoffs

Villa Park and The North London arena finalize the event’s nine venues. Each one will hold at least one elimination game, with the quarterfinal matches staged at every host’s main arena.

The qualifying draw will be staged in the Northern Irish capital, which was removed as a venue city last year when it emerged the Belfast stadium could not be upgraded in time, on December 6, 2026.
